Father’s Day 2021

Today is Father’s Day. A father’s love is like a mountain, silent, deep and enduring, and provides a sense of steadfast support. Sometimes it is like an umbrella, sheltering us from the wind and rain, making us feel loved, exquisite and warm. I wish all fathers in the world peace and good fortune.

Chotrul Duchen 2018

GNCD2018Today is Chotrul Duchen*, the Fifteenth day of the first lunar Month in the Tibetan calendar. On this holy day, one will attain unimaginable merits when you perform lamp offering, animal release, mantra recitation, or meditation practices. May all sentient beings arise wish-fulfilling jewel like Bodhicitta, may your Bodhicitta be ever increasing, like the bright and complete full moon.

(*Chotrul Duchen, meaning “Great Day of Miraculous Manifestations”, is one of the four great holy days observed by Tibetan Buddhists, always occurring on the Fifteenth day of the first lunar Month in the Tibetan calendar. During this time, it is believed that the effects of both positive and negative actions are multiplied ten million times.)

Saga Dawa Düchen 2017

Today, Saga Dawa Düchen, is the 15th day (full moon) of the fourth Tibetan lunar month. It is one of the three most auspicious festivals of the year. It is the day when we commemorate the birth, enlightenment and parinirvana of the Buddha Shakyamuni. On this sacred day, the merits of any positive deeds and practices that we performed will be multiplied immeasurably, therefore I wish everyone not to miss out such a rare opportunity. Tashi delek!

Happy Losar 2144 – Tibetan New Year

Losar2017Losar Tashi Delek!

Happy Losar 2144!

Today is Losar, the first day of the Tibetan New Year and also the first day of the “Miracle Days/Days of Miracles”. The “Miracle Days” are particularly auspicious Dharma days in Buddhism which commemorate the time when the Sakyamuni Buddha uncharacteristically displayed his power to subdue teachers of non-believers in order to present all the great teachings in Buddhism. As mentioned in many Buddhist sutras, this is a very powerful time to practice and increase one’s commitment to both practice and study as the power of that magical event can be harnessed to assist in our personal evolution towards enlightenment. The power of any actions done during this period of time, especially in the first two weeks, for better or worse (positive or negative), are multiplied by 100,000 times . So, with good beginnings and good endings, please practice with a pure mind and correspond with your Buddha nature!

Lunar New Year Greetings 2017

Tashi delek!

Here is my Lunar New Year Greetings for all of you.

Tomorrow we will enter into a completely new beginning. When we look back at this past year, we have been delighted by moments of accomplishments, and disappointed by things that have slipped by. But whatever is the case, we have to bid a peaceful farewell to the past.

In this new year, I hope that everything can develop in the proper directions, and wish that everyone will be able to undertake their parts which is theirs to act upon, where everything will go smoothly.

An altruistic mind is what lies underneath the ease and freedom from obstacles. One has to develop right views to give rise to free and joyful feelings. If we engage in healthy behaviour with our own body, speech, and mind, then we will be better able to benefit others, and become more capable to protect the world and the environment in which we live.

The new year bell chimes like the emissary of impermanence, reminding us to seek our true self and inner peace at this present moment.

Not forgetting, the purpose of possessing something is to be happy, and there is nothing to be sad about when we lose it. We should be skillful in using the gift of “dependent origination and emptiness”.

It is only when we strive to benefit others then we are able to diminish our own afflictions. We must be diligent in our practice, purify those negative energies that tend to cause us trouble, and live in naked openness.

Beginning is a symbol of primordial purity. A new beginning is a chance to return to this purity. We must believe that our original nature is not filled with disapproval and hostility, but rather goodness and gentleness. I wish everyone will surely have a blessed new year!
